Deep Dive: Structure & Function of the Upper Limb: 12/2/25, 5-9 PM PDT, 4 Supervised CE Hours
In-Person or Live Online via Zoom (please let me know if you wish to attend Live Online)
4 Supervised CE Hours, Good for OBMT Renewal, NCBTMB approved for Live Participants
5-9 PM, Pacific Time
Location: 2135 SE 76th Ave, Portland, OR 97215
This series is all about getting to the root of where your clients’ issues are coming from...by looking a bit deeper we provide more chance for long term relief of our clients’ symptoms.
Based on the popular Posture Assessment Deep Dive Series, this workshop will explore the bone, fascial and muscular structure of the shoulder girdle, shoulder, arm, forearm and hand. We will examine the shape of the bones, the manner in which they line up to make the joints, the connective tissues that hold them together, and the muscles that move them. We will explore common postural patterns and the myofascial structures that lead to these patterns. We will perform gait analysis in comparison to the postural assessment. We will explore how fascial lines of tension telegraph across the body through the upper limbs and their relationship to the torso. We will also look at ways to recognize restricted fascia and tense muscles, even in areas where the posture is neutral. Students will be given a worksheet of posture, gait and movement checks to go through when assessing clients. The workshop will be generously peppered with Integrative Bodywork Strategies to address the issues found in assessment. These strategies are open-ended enough to allow the participants to address the issues they assess in whatever style/modality they choose. We will look at numerous examples of postural distortion patterns in a slideshow format but we will also be spending our time looking at the posture, gait and movement of workshop participants.
